Following a surprising championship —the first-ever for the Vaqueros — during the CIF high school season last spring, Gourley returned to pitch for her club team this summer, leading the Southern California Athletics to a third straight national championship.
Meeting the powerful Worth Firecrackers in the Premier Girls Fastpitch final, Gourley tossed 6 2/3 solid innings, then teammate Megan Geer rocked a walk-off, 2-run double in the bottom of the 7th inning, propelling the A’s to a 5-4 triumph if the 18HS Division finale.
