Valhalla had won four out of their last five meeting with Grossmont’s varsity football team and this week there was more than a little bit of determination on the field. Grossmont came with a mission and with 9:44 left to play in the first quarter, quarterback Anthony Lawrence made a short pass 9 yards to running back AJ Shaw making the first touchdown of the night.

Hillers defense back Justin Peace recovered a fumble on the Valhalla 27 yard line.

A few plays later Norsemen defense back Logan Baker took the ball back on a fumble recovery on the Valhalla 21 yard line.

With the Norsemen unable to make a significant play, they ended up punting the ball back to the Hillers who promptly marched the ball back down the line with quarterback Lawrence scoring on a 2-yard dive making the score 14-0.

Linebacker Jacob Denson picked off a pass from Norsemen quarterback on the 46-yard line with 2 minutes left in the first quarter. Lawrence connected with running back Christian Brooks for a 30 yard touchdown completion making the score 21-0 with just seconds remaining in the first quarter.

Norsemen defensive back Chris Ramsey recovered a hiller fumble on the Valhalla 25 yard line seconds into the second quarter putting the Norsemen into scoring position. Quarterback Phillip Nasseh made a great pass to John Todd for a 24 yard touchdown making the score 7-21.

The Hillers were not done though and a quick screen pass from Lawrence to Jake “Little Train” Harr led to an 80-yard touchdown that left all the Norsemen in the dust. This little train not only could but did and kept on going. JT Barnes hit the point after for 28-7 with 10 minutes remaining in the second quarter.

In comes Hillers defensive back Perry Sherrod for another interception. Lawrence and AJ Shaw teamed up for a repeat of the opening touchdown to make the score 35-7.

Norsemen quarterback Nasseh threw a bomb at Todd into group of Hillers defenders. Todd made the catch on the Valhalla 30 yard line giving the Norsemen the hope of life again. Veteran junior quarterback Vincent Manupella then hit Todd with a pass in the corner for a quick touchdown closing the gap to 35-14 with 9 minutes left in the second.

Lawrence and Brooks met up two more times in the first half for touchdowns making the score at the half 48-14.

With 8:48 left in the third quarter Lawrence handed the ball off to Alijah Avant for a quick touchdown making the score 55-14.

Norsemens again fumble the ball, this time on the 7-yard line, turning the ball over to the Hillers.

Top of the fourth quarter hiller running back Ricky Valdez scores a 6 yard touchdown off of a handoff from sophomore quarterback Calvin Farris making the score 62-14.

The final score of the game ended with a 73-yard quarterback keeper by Farris.
