Dear Lakeside Community, come join us for Halloween fun on October 31st. ALL DAY: Costume contest and Halloween Challenge. Come in your costume, and take a picture at our photo booth. The Lakeside Friends of the Library have gift cards for the first 3 winners. Find the all the Jack o Lantern’s hidden throughout the library, and get a treat. 3:30 p.m. – Halloween Cake Walk; 4:00 p.m. Monday Movie Matinee – with a (moderately/PG rated) SCARY MOVIE.

Southern Caregivers Resource Center Info Table – 11/1; 11/15; and 11/29 – 2p.m. to 4 p.m.

Are you taking care of an elderly parent or grandparent? Then you need to know about a program called “REACH”. It is offered by Southern Caregivers Resource Center and is a Resource assisting or caring for a family member or friend with memory loss, Alzheimer’s disease or Dementia. They offer Free Classes for the community to care givers or non-caregivers to learn more about helpful resources available, better to cope with the caregiver situation, learn stress techniques and management, take better care of yourself and loved one, develop effective family communications skills and have a one on one screening with the Therapist social worker. They are a non-profit organization and partnership with La Maestra Community Health Center, San Ysidro Health Center and Funded by North County Health Services and offer reach thought The County of San Diego.

El Cuidadano Americano! Sesion de Informacion con IRC – 11/1 -6 p.m.

Queremos hacerle una cordial invitacion a una sesion de informacion sobre la Ciudadania y discutir sobre el proceso de naturalizacion y que esperar de la entrevista. EI IRC es una agencia reconocida y acreditada por La Junta de Apelaciones de Inmigracion.

Celebrate Day of the Dead at the Lakeside Library – 11/2 – 3:30 p.m.

Come enjoy celebrating Day of the Dead and enjoy some fun, story, crafts and refreshments. Learn a little about what the holiday is all about. Fun for kids of all ages.

Kid’s Career Day at Bilingual Storytime with Pharmacist Raj   – 11/4 – 3:30 p.m.

Meet Raj Zalavadiya from Leo’s Pharmacy talking about what it takes to be a safe pharmacist when preparing medication. There will be Spanish/English stories, songs, rhymes and craft for children ages 3-11.

Veterans, know your Federal Benefits – Information by NARFE – 11/10 – 2 p.m.

The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE), with some 240,000 members, is the only membership organization dedicated to protecting and preserving the benefits of federal workers and retirees. NARFE monitors Congressional actions with a team of registered lobbyists backed by an informed network of grass-roots activists in every congressional district as well as providing a member-supported Political Action Committee. NARFE is a non-profit association.  Join forces with the ultimate federal employees advocate, get access to current legislation affecting your earned rights and benefits, get access to retirement guides and get the answers you need to make smart decisions.

Concert: 60s/70s Songs with Gail Bones – 11/19 – 2 p.m.

Singer-songwriter/author Dr. Gail Nelson Bones will be presenting an acoustic sing-a-long concert at the Lakeside Library on Saturday November 19 from 2-3 pm. Enjoy singing along to songs from the 60’s and 70’s by singers like Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Judy Collins, Joan Baez, James Taylor, Bob Dylan, John Denver, The Beatles, and Peter, Paul and Mary. Lyric sheets will be provided. Come and join the fun!
