Rainwater harvesting workshop to offer residents water-saving solutions

The County of San Diego will host a free rain barrel workshop on Saturday, May 10, at 10 a.m. at the San Diego Youth Services campus, 3845 Spring Drive, in Spring Valley.

The workshop will teach participants about the benefits of capturing rainwater, different collection methods and proper rain barrel installation and maintenance. A live demonstration will show how much water residents can expect to collect and how rainwater harvesting can help lower water bills. Information about rebates available through the Waterscape Rebate Program will also be provided.

The event is open to the public at no cost. Residents living in unincorporated areas of San Diego County are eligible to receive a free rain barrel, with a limit of one per address. County staff will assist attendees with rainwater harvesting project questions.

The workshop is part of a broader series of events planned throughout 2025 by the Waterscape Rebate Program. The program focuses on the installation of landscaping and water-wise features, which help you conserve water, save money and enhance your home.
