El Cajon’s own Christian Youth Theater is taking “Christmas Around the World“ for their 21st Annual Traditions of Christmas show, at the Don Powell Theater at San Diego State University.
Young and old alike have joined together under the direction Bethany Slomka and Bobby Albright to take you on a jazz-handed journey through the Christmas traditions from around the world. From balmy Hawai’i to wintry Holland, “Traditions of Christmas” explores songs and traditions in ways that are sure to bring a smile, as children traipse about the stage in garb from the Old Country (whichever one it may be).
Eventually, after singing about Kris Kringle and Santa Lucia, the show lands back home in the good ole’ USA, where familiar yuletide songs and medleys, homages to the armed forces, country-western renditions, and trashcan percussion music all blend together to make entertainment that is fun for the entire family. “Traditions of Christmas: a Musical Spectacular“ runs Dec.19 to 23 with shows starting at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m., with the premiere being at 7:00 pm..
