The city of Santee is hosting a “Salute to Service Night” Aug. 6 at Town Center Community Park East.
The festivities are a combination of the San Diego Sheriff’s National Night Out community outreach and Santee’s Summer Concert Series, providing a “fun-filled night of community connection, public safety, and live entertainment.”
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with National Night Out.
The public is welcome to explore interactive safety demonstrations, meet law enforcement officers and public safety partners, view emergency vehicles and equipment up close. There also will be informational exhibits, and educational opportunities about organizations working together toward public safety.
According to organizers, the event is part of the City’s year-long celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary, the evening will feature a Salute to Service Ceremony at 6:15 p.m., presented by the Santee VFW.
The ceremony will honor active-duty military members, veterans, first responders, and their families in recognition of their dedication and service. Community members are invited to join us as we pay tribute to the individuals whose courage, sacrifice, and commitment help protect our nation and strengthen our community.
The Sea Monks, will hit the stage at 6 p.m., bringing a blend of rockabilly country music to the Summer Concert Series stage.
“We’re excited to bring together National Night Out and our Salute to Service concert for an evening that celebrates community, patriotism, and public safety,” said Mayor John Minto. “This event offers families a chance to meet the people who serve our community every day while enjoying great music and a memorable summer evening.”
Guests are encouraged to arrive early, bring blankets or low-back chairs, and enjoy a variety of local food vendors throughout the evening.
