West Hills Tomcats recognized for earning a statewide playoff spot in American Legion baseball competition

On Friday, Sept. 27, American Legion dignitaries and Santee Council Members Ronn Hall and Rob McNelis gathered at Santee American Legion Post 364 to honor and celebrate the West Hills Tomcats for having captured a playoff spot in the statewide American Legion tournament in Yountville this season.

Tomcats players who attended received certificates of recognition.

Post 364 Commander Robyn Nolin and American Legion Riders Chapter 364 President Rod “Irish” Slavin assisted with presentation of the individual awards. Department of California Commander Ed Grimsley was there, as was District 22 Commander Sam Flores, representing the state of California and San Diego County, respectively.

American Legion Baseball Commissioner, District 22 & Area 5, Peter-Rolf Ohnstad participated in portions of the ceremony recognizing players and supporters.

Ohstad noted that college-level and professional baseball team scouts attend the ALB games and have expressed interest in watching development of several Socal players.
