How can you use cancer-causing radiation to screen for cancer? Certified thermographer Linda Hayes poses this arresting and thought-provoking question at Total Thermal Imaging, adding, “Our center is La Mesa’s best kept secret. Even though they’re located in the heart of downtown La Mesa, “People pass by and don’t quite know what we’re about,” said Hayes.
Hayes wants people to know that the business is an integrative medical wellness center where she and Dr. Gregory Melvin, D.C., B.C.C.T, offer complete chiropractic care, alphabiotics, nutrition and overall health assessment with a holistic approach, featuring cutting edge thermal imaging.
Thermal imaging uses infrared light, or heat differentiation, to screen for cancer, heart disease, digestive disorders, lymphatic congestion and multiple other conditions, while not giving off radiation nor involving any risk-provoking factors.
Additionally, this type of imaging is non-invasive and relies on visually and literally mapping out “hot points” where inflammation is present in the body. It can provide a picture of inflammation, which is the beginning of disease, pain, lymph congestion and other bodily dysfunctions.
Hayes said, “Thermography is a test of physiology and it is the only test that can show inflammation, disease, tumors and pain. Blood cells go to a point of inflammation. Thermography gives us a heat-map of our bodies — a visual roadmap — that shows these areas.”
She explained that the test is free of radiation risk and devoid of potentially harmful breast compression associated with traditional mammograms. Additionally, she said that thermal imaging can detect breast tumors eight to 10 years prior to mammograms, and since the technology is also completely non-invasive, tests can be run as often as desired without fear of complications.
Hayes said, “This (type of) technology is endorsed by alternative medicine luminaries such as Dr. Oz, Suzanne Sommers, Dr. Mercola and Christine Horner.”
“This technology shows us pre-cancerous conditions, such as estrogen dominance, years earlier than mammograms. It also shows us the precursors of disease, thus giving us the advantage to take a proactive and life-saving role in our own health care,” Hayes summarized.
Explaining that she was one of the first thermographers to be certified in San Diego County, Hayes stated with a chuckle, “In my 20-plus years of experience, I’ve thermographed everything from Shamu to the governor of Texas and the entire Dallas Cowboys team.” Hayes went on to explain the center’s motto that champions adding the benefits of thermal imaging to every woman’s regular breast health care and every doctor’s protocol.
With offices in various locations throughout San Diego County that include Encinitas, UTC, Temecula, Escondido and the Lawrence Welk Resort, Hayes and her partner, Dr. Melvin, also offer certification classes in thermography, along with participating in health seminars and expos, such as Long Beach’s Freedom Expo.
Their main location, however, is their La Mesa center, where they invite all health conscious East County residents to check out this “safe and possibly life saving technology” along with their full chiropractic and holistic services.
