The Power Surge softball club of San Diego sent 10 different teams to national competition this summer, but only one came away with a championship.
Featuring a number of East County players, the Power Surge 12-and-under ballclub took the American Softball Association crown for its age group by posting a perfect 7-0 records as the lone unbeaten team among 83 participating squads. Included was a 4-2 victory in the championship contest over the Texas
Bombers of Universal City, Texas, which went 10-2 in the double-elimination event at Green Valley Sports Complex.

It was the second major achievement on the summer for Power Surge. Earlier, they took the Southern California ASA ‘A’ crown, which earned the ballcub its berth to the nationals.
Managed by Scott Berndess, Power Surge includes Kylee Brown, Konner Dalhberg, Hailey Demnianiuk, Morgan Farmer, Eva Gonzalves, Summer Hargett, Kelsey Munoz, Hannah McEwen, Alexis Morehouse, Elyse Morris, Erika Silva and Anna Silva. The assistant coaches are Rich Dahlberg and Steve Morris.
