If you have weight to lose, then this message is meant specifically for you. Through my work with clients over the years, I’ve come to learn the fastest track to fat loss, and I’d like to share it with you.
First, I’d like to ask you a few questions. At this stage in your life, have you noticed the following?
• It’s easier to gain weight these days
• Your body is changing as you age, and not in a good way
·• You have less muscle and more unattractive body fat
·• It takes more and more effort to reduce your body fat
·• The dieting tricks that once worked aren’t helping anymore
The best thing for you to start with is establish a short-term goal.
Small victories will motivate you and keep you moving in the right direction. Often the goal is set and because you don’t see the dramatic change or instant gratification, you lose focus and fall off track. Small goals will keep the momentum going and not devastate you if you fall one or two weeks behind.
Here are a few things to think about before setting some goals:
• How fast can you run a mile?
• How many days per week do you work out?
• How often do you eat a cheat meal?
Short-terms goals to work towards:
Attempt to beat the baseline mile time. Even if it’s only by one second. Progress is progress!
Add an extra workout per week. Even if it’s an active recovery day like yoga.
Swap the cheat meal with a healthy yet viable option; Greek yogurt with fruit for ice cream, kombucha for beer, or a smoothie for anything sweet.
Each swap, addition, layer of improvement builds and builds and day after day, week after week, month after month, it becomes a lifestyle. Fads do not work. Your mission is small efforts over time that will build a successful life of health and fitness.
Bottom line:
It doesn’t happen overnight. Making small goals each week, each day, will give you the small victories that will over time add up to the large results you want.
Knowledge is power. But knowledge without application is useless.
