The City of Santee is celebrating Veterans Day on Nov.11 in a few ways.
Community members are encouraged to participate in the Santee Hometown Heroes Banners self-guided walkthrough. The walkthrough can be found on the City’s website or the flyer box at the Veteran Memorial Monument, that lists names, ranks, service years, and military branches of the military heroes displayed on the banners on the Veterans Memorial Bridge.
In honor of Veterans Day, the Veterans Memorial Monument will also be decorated with a floral arrangement. The Santee VFW Post 9327, American Legion and the American Legion Riders will be performing a small flag raising ceremony on Nov. 11 at 11:11 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Monument.
The city wants to recognize those who have served in the United States Armed Forces for protecting our country and preserving our freedom. For those wishing to honor a veteran they know in a unique way, apply for the Santee Hometown Heroes Banner Program, which honors active duty and veterans who live in or are affiliated with Santee.
