Catfish Season Opening Weekend is coming April 6-7! Two thousand pounds of catfish, with trophy sized fish, will be stocked for this weekend event.
“This event is great for everyone, including families that want to spend some quality time together,” said Greg Even, coordinator for the Opener. “It’s also perfect for sport fishermen because there will be some trophy fish included in the stock.”
There will be prizes for the top five largest fish caught over the two-day Catfish Season Opener.
If you catch a tagged catfish, you will win a prize!
Prizes could include fishing poles, tackle boxes, bicycles, camping gear and free fishing passes to Santee Lakes. Catfish Season runs April–October 2019 with catfish stocks of 1,000 pounds every other week.
Hours of event:
6 a.m.-7 p.m., April 6-7, 2019
Gate Entrance: $6 per carload
Permits:
Adults are $10 and Juniors & Seniors are $6 and a second pole stamp is $4.
You can purchase your permit in advance at the General Store.
