The Mountain Empire High School football team eased into the half way point of the 2026 football season with a 3-2 record following last Friday’s 50-6 non-league win against the visiting San Ysidro Cougars.
The game was not close. The Redhawks led 22-0 after the first quarter and 30-6 at halftime.
“The boys played really well and deserved a homecoming win after a good hard week of practice,” Mountain Empire head coach Cameron Keller said. “Gotta get back to work against another good team VCA (Victory Christian Academy, away game this Friday).”
Junior Elisha Robinson led the Redhawks with 186 tushing on 22 carries with three touchdowns while senior Chance Ross rushed for 60 yards with one touchdown and a pair of two-point conversion runs.
Junior Angel Avila (19 yards) and senior Amar Mahasin (14 rushing yards) each scored one touchdown on the ground.
Ross passed for 75 yards and one of two two-point conversions. Mahasin had three catches for 67 yards while junior Nic Santos caught an eight-yard touchdown pass.
Foothills Christian 33, Tri-City Christian 13
The Knights won their third consecutive game behind four rushing touchdowns from junior Drew Mikulsky (25 carries, 238 yards) and one passing touchdown from junior quarterback Hayden Oleson to sophomore Liam Dailey (three catches, 50 yards).
Oleson passed for 101 yards by completing nine of 13 attempts with one touchdown for a 117.8 quarterback efficiency rating. He also rushed once for 35 yards to bring to his offensive output to 136 total yards.
Sophomore Isaac Maisonet added six catches for 51 yards while senior David Stewart had four carries for 45 ayrds and sophomore Cahill Martinez had eight carries for 49 yards.
Foothills Christian (3-2) rolled up 468 total yards in the Sunset League victory, including 367 rushing yards. Tri-City fel to 3-2.
The Knights improved to 2-0 in league play while TCC dropped to 0-1 in league.
League membership includes Foothills Christian, Tri-City Christian, Orange Glen, Victory Christian Academy, O’Farrell Charter and Rock Academy. O’Farrell Charter and Orange Glen are both 0-5 on the season while Victory Christian is 0-4. Rock Acedmy is 0-0.
The Knights host Lake Mead Christian Academy (1-2) this Friday in a non-league game.
