Monday, May 1st –Monday 15th: Tree of Life Art Exhibit

Mona Mills has assembled a group exhibit of artwork that ranges from silk painting to naïve art to graphics to photography to fine detail visionary oils. The joyful words of the spiritual song, "Oh, the wonder of it all", sum up the growth of the "Tree of Life", which represents all generations, all mankind, and the natural process of aging. From May first through May 15.

Saturday, May 6 – 1 p.m.: The 10-minute medical appointment

Saturday, May 6 – 1 p.m.: The 10-minute medical appointment

How you prepare for a doctor’s visit matters! Learn how to help your physician be a better physician by being a better patient. Which are the best ways to talk with your doctor, and get the most out of your visit. This is a presentation by Dr. Tobe Propst, family doctor in San Diego. Dr. Propst received his medical degree from Uniformed Services University of Health Science and has been in practice for 20 years. This event is in collaboration with "Champions for Health" and "Live Well San Diego".

Tuesday, May 9 – 5 p.m.: Making Aging and Old Age Fashionable

Join us for a presentation on graceful aging with Joaquin Anguera, Ph.D. Professor of Gerontology at San Diego State University. Joaquin has worked in the field of aging for 40 years. He was involved in establishing several programs that help older persons in the County of San Diego (senior centers, nutrition programs, information and assistance, etc.). For the past 15 years Joaquin has been teaching various classes about aging (gerontology) at San Diego State University. Last year, Governor Brown to the California Commission on Aging appointed him. Light refreshments will be provided.

Saturday, May 13 – 2 p.m.: Midway, the Battle, the Ship, the Museum

Rafe Arnott, retired Naval Aviator and now volunteer docent at the USS Midway museum talks about the battle over Midway, a small atoll in the Pacific, and the outcome and impact on the rest of the war in the Pacific. He also will give a short history of the USS Midway and the museum.

Monday, May 15 – 1 p.m.: Feeling Fit with Vicky Velasco

Vickie Velasco worked 32 years for the (AIS) Aging and Independence Services, County of San Diego. Together with her team, she developed the "Feeling Fit Club" that has 35 sites as of today. Feeling Fit combines easy weight training, stretches, flexibility and balance exercises that are essential for keeping up your health and mobility. You can do those easy exercises at home without the need for expensive equipment. This free training might improve your life dramatically, so please stop by!

Light refreshments will be provided.
