Lakeside man sentenced for accepting bribes and theft

Timothy Francis Cashman, 54, of Lakeside, has been sentenced to 16 months in federal prison for accepting bribes and stealing U.S. property in connection with his position as a building manager for the federal General Services Administration.

Cashman was ordered to pay $50,057 to the government and was allowed to remain free on $30,000 bond by U.S. District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel until he surrenders to prison on Jan. 8, 2016.

Cashman pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bribery, theft of government property, and filing a false tax return. The U.S. Attorney’s office said Cashman accepted bribes in exchange for granting government contracts and arranged for free improvements on his Lakeside home.
