Two men have pleaded guilty to second-degree murder of an El Cajon man who was shot in the back during a robbery of his marijuana.
Homero Viscarra Palomino, 19, of Chula Vista, and Paul Julian Sosa III, 19, of San Diego, admitted their roles in the Sept. 18, 2014 shooting death of John Milton Francis, 38, of El Cajon.
They will be sentenced April 15 by El Cajon Superior Court Judge Dan Lamborn and remain in jail. Both pleaded guilty on the eve of jury selection.

Deputy District Attorney Valerie Ryan said Sosa admitted to being the gunman and an enhancement that he personally used a gun. This enhancement adds 10 years consecutively to the 15 years to life term. Palomino will get 15 years to life in prison.
The sole item stolen from Francis was marijuana, and they apparently did not know him previously, said Ryan. El Cajon Police received a 911 call at 1:20 p.m. and found the victim dead in the 1400 block of Broadway.
Pizza delivery robber sentenced to eight years
The robber of a pizza deliveryman in El Cajon has been sentenced to eight years in state prison and was ordered to pay $4,340 in restitution.
El Cajon Superior Court Judge John Thompson gave John Mumtaz Ibrahim, 30, credit for already serving 288 days in jail on Feb. 11. A jury convicted him of carjacking and armed robbery on Nov. 20.
The getaway driver, Jessica Ann Garcia, 32, was earlier sentenced to 291 days in jail and placed on three years probation by another judge. Garcia was arrested the same night of the robbery on Feb. 23, 2015.
Ibrahim, of El Cajon, was arrested some months after the incident in the 1100 W. Chase Ave. The victim’s cellphone, wallet, and vehicle were taken, but were recovered.
Man convicted in prowling-peeking case in El Cajon
A jury has convicted Von Ryan Manago, 32, of indecent exposure during a residential burglary in which he committed a sex act near a sleeping woman in her El Cajon home.
Manago was also found guilty of prowling and peeking, and loitering outside a second woman’s home in El Cajon. The jury acquitted Manago of attempted burglary and prowling and peeking in another incident.
Manago faces a maximum 6-year term in prison when he is sentenced March 1 in El Cajon Superior Court. The incidents occurred in June 2015. A woman woke up to see Manago standing in her room and she woke up her husband before the man fled. El Cajon Police arrested him June 22, 2015, and he remains in jail.
