More than 40 employers will be attending the 3rd Annual Refugee Job Fair being held May 1 at Grossmont College, a free event focused on finding new careers for refugees, Dreamers, international students and community members. The job fair will be held in the Main Quad at Grossmont College from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is no charge for parking at the college.
A wide range of employers will be seeking job applicants at the event. The employers registered to attend include Amazon, the California Department of Transportation, City of San Diego, San Diego Police Department, Sycuan Casino, and UC San Diego.
Renee Nasori, Career Services Supervisor at Grossmont College, said the job fair supports some of the college’s most vulnerable students.
“Some of these individuals are highly intellectual and some are newly resettled in the U.S. with limited English skills,” she said in a press release. Translation services will be offered in multiple languages. Grossmont College’s Career Center is also offering assistance with creating and printing a resume, career skills workshops, and development of an elevator pitch to help applicants stand out with potential employers.
