Midweek sky will light up with countywide festivals, fireworks

The midweek Fourth of July holiday will feature a variety of events, including pyrotechnics displays throughout the county.

EAST COUNTY

EL CAJON
The City of El Cajon will host fireworks on July 4th at 9:00 pm at Kennedy Park. Other free activities will be offered as well including:
2-7 p.m. Train rides
3-7 p.m. Arts and crafts and family games
3-9 p.m. Two live bands
9 p.m. fireworks

SANTEE
Celebrate Independence Day with Santee Salutes on July 4 from 2-10 p.m. at Town Center Community Park East, 550 Park Center Drive.

Bring chairs, blankets, canopies, and the family out to this beloved Santee tradition. Dance and sing along to performances by the U.S. Marine Corps Band, PMG (Popular Music Group) and Whiskey Ridge. Carnival rides will be back at this year’s Santee Salutes event; the rides will open at 2 p.m. and close at 8:40 p.m. Wristbands for unlimited ride access will be sold onsite, for $20.

There will be a variety of food options for purchase, with local concession stand Riverwalk Grill barbequing tasty bites and vendors in “Food Truck Alley.”

Attendees are welcome to bring their own food and drinks to the park to enjoy. Refill water bottles at the hydration station and stay cool throughout the day.

Plan ahead and reserve your parking spot. Guests are encouraged to take the trolley, bike, rideshare, or walk to the event as parking is limited.

The event schedule will be:
2 p.m. – Parking lots and carnival rides open
4 p.m. – Food vendors open |U.S. Marine Corps Band, PMG
6 p.m. – Patriotic Ceremony |Military Color Guard
6:30 p.m. – Performance by Whiskey Ridge
9 p.m. – Fireworks Display • Music Available on SanteeTV

CREST
Crest’s 78th annual Fourth of July event will have music with Crest musician Jason Estupinian and his band from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the park, vendors, food, and a raffle/auction at Nancy Jane County Park and the Crest Community Clubhouse from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Nancy Jane Park is located at 120 N. Park Drive in El Cajon adjacent to the Crest Community Clubhouse.

LAKE MURRAY
The Lake Murray Fireworks and Music Fest will be held at Lake Murray Community Park, 7001 Murray Park Drive, San Diego, from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. Music Fest with fireworks beginning at 9 p.m.

ALPINE
The Alpine Community Center will host its Fourth of July Festival in the Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 4. Admission is free to the event in the Alpine Community Center Park. Festivities will include food, games, a beer garden, bounce house, dunk tank, live music and Smokey the Bear, among other items.

JULIAN 4TH OF JULY PARADE
For more than 20 years, on the 4th of July, Julian honors the nation’s birthday with a salute to the men and women who made our country great, both domestically and militarily.

At noon, a fly-over of vintage airplanes and the National Anthem will be played. The parade begins as soon as the National Anthem is completed and the enormous American Flag has been carried, by the audience, down Main Street. Those who want to participate in carrying the flag should meet at the corner of C and Main streets. The parade runs along Main Street, so it is suggested that you arrive early to catch the pre-parade activities that start at 9:30 a.m.

The parade will honor the Julian Union High School District as the Grand Marshal of the 2024 parade. Get your Julian 4th of July Parade commemorative T-shirt today! Shirts are available for purchase at the Julian Market & Deli. They will also be sold along Main Street on July 4.

DEERHORN VALLEY
The 11th Annual Deerhorn Valley Independence Day Parade & Picnic is being held from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The parade staging is at 9:30 a.m. at McNeil’s Field at Deerhorn Valley Road and Lower Elena Lane. Bring your tractor, trailer, dogs, horses, llamas, alpacas, bicycles, pigs, chickens, wagons, golf carts, walkers, marching’ boots, drums, marching’ music, noisemakers, and your own two feet. The parade begins at 10 a.m. and goes north along Elena Lane and then east along Elena Lane to McKinley’s Field. Festivities are on Elena Lane just south of McKinley Field. Meal tickets are $5 and include hot dogs, chips, and watermelon. Water and popcorn are free, and there will be a raffle.

RAMONA
Ramona Chamber of Commerce, Ramona Rotary Club and the Kiwanis Club of Ramona are bringing back the Annual 4th of July Fireworks show for 2024. Grounds open at 4 p.m. at Olive Peirce Middle School, 1521 Hanson Lane in Ramona. Free admission and parking, no glass containers or alcohol. There will be food vendors, music, games, and fireworks from 9 to 9:15 p.m. Service dogs only.
