Maine Avenue in Lakeside filled with people at its Annual Spirit of Christmas celebration on Dec. 5.  In true Lakeside tradition, Santa made his grand entrance and with the help of the Miss Lakeside Court, lit the Christmas tree at the Lakeside Historical Society, ringing in the festive season of the holidays.

Streets were lined with vendors, stores open for business and the Historical Society held its largest fundraiser of the year with its annual rummage sale of Christmas decorations for all needs.

Streets were lined with vendors, stores open for business and the Historical Society held its largest fundraiser of the year with its annual rummage sale of Christmas decorations for all needs.

Local schools and community groups performed all evening as Santa settled down to talk to hundreds of children. Many got the opportunity to deliver letters to Santa, with direct delivery to the North Pole, and a promise of a reply from Santa himself.

Put on by the Lakeside Chamber of Commerce and many community sponsors, this annual gathering of community is a signature event for the community of Lakeside, drawing thousands through the evening to enjoy both the community and the visiting vendors, artist and community resources. An event for the entire family, crafts and games for children, local food and a lot of holiday spirit, made this year’s event a rousing success.

With the abundance of activities, the Lakeside Chamber of Commerce once again brought the Spirit of Christmas to the community of Lakeside.
