La Mesa Health Library presents art of Mike Watson

The Dr. William C. Herrick Community Health Care Library, a consumer health library at 9001 Wakarusa St. in La Mesa, is currently hosting its Fall Art Exhibit featuring 14 oil paintings of San Diego landmarks by Mike Watson of La Mesa. The show runs through the end of December.

The Dr. William C. Herrick Community Health Care Library, a consumer health library at 9001 Wakarusa St. in La Mesa, is currently hosting its Fall Art Exhibit featuring 14 oil paintings of San Diego landmarks by Mike Watson of La Mesa. The show runs through the end of December.

The exhibit includes paintings of iconic buildings in Balboa Park, as well as landscapes of San Diego harbor and portraits from pow-wows and renaissance fairs.

Watson began painting when he attended Grossmont College in the 1970s. He continued painting throughout his working careers at General Dynamics and the U.S. Postal Service. And he studied painting while visiting art museums in England, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France.

He is a member of the Foothills Art Association, East County Art Association, Southwestern Artists’ Association and San Diego Portrait Society.

Admission to the Herrick Community Health Care Library is free. The Fall Art Exhibit is open to the public during regular library hours, which are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays through Fridays, and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
