On Saturday, April 14, Mary England—President and CEO of the La Mesa Chamber of Commerce—was presented with a California Senate Resolution from State Senator Joel Anderson for her long-term commitment to public service and growing the local business community and they jobs they bring.

The Chamber of Commerce recently celebrated its tenth anniversary, and when asked about her goals for the Chamber, England said she wants the chamber to “continue growing, continue serving our community and the business community, and continue quality events that promote not only our individual members but our Chamber as a whole.”

England served as a council member for the City of Lemon Grove for twelve years and is actively involved in both the La Mesa Rotary Club and the Lemon Grove Education Foundation.

Anderson said England has been crucial to the local community.

“Individuals like Mary are too often taken for granted,” he said. “She has shown unwavering dedication to her community as well its businesses and is an integral member of La Mesa.”

England’s seemingly endless list of awards and recognitions, ranging from the La Mesa Community Crown Award to the 77th Assembly District’s Woman of the Year, only further highlight her dedication to her local community.

But more than just serving the community through the Chamber, England also serves an example of a modern-day successful female business owner. On top of all of her other commitments to the community, she is a self-starting entrepreneur and runs two of her own companies. There is no doubt that England’s unyielding work for the betterment of the community has solidified her as a vital citizen of La Mesa.
