Rhythm and blues and the harmonica took center stage at this year’s Spring Harp Fest in La Mesa. People filled the park to listen to local musicians, with a special performance by premier blues harmonica players Kim Wilson headlining the afternoon. Spring Harp Fest is a non-profit organization that had distributed nearly 5,000 harmonicas to local schools with its Blues In The Schools Program. Co-founders Chet Cannon, Budd Willis and Harmonica John Frazer, along with many volunteers put this concert together each year, dedicated to passing on to the next generation in building a better musical future. With 12 performances, the “unknown players jam” and the Headcutters Ball, provided for a highly entertaining afternoon. For more information visit www.springharpfest.org.
