Now in its fourth year, Hauntfest on Main continues to grow in popularity throughout East County, this year drawing nearly 40,000 people to this family friendly event. Spooks, ghosts, super heroes and creatures of fantasy roamed Main on Oct. 23, enjoying the many activities With bands, haunted cars, rock climbing and carnival rides, there were plenty of activities and games for ghoulish families to enjoy.
Now in its fourth year, Hauntfest on Main continues to grow in popularity throughout East County, this year drawing nearly 40,000 people to this family friendly event. Spooks, ghosts, super heroes and creatures of fantasy roamed Main on Oct. 23, enjoying the many activities With bands, haunted cars, rock climbing and carnival rides, there were plenty of activities and games for ghoulish families to enjoy.
And enjoy they did. By 9 p.m., the street was packed with people from the concert stage to the carnival rides. Mayor Bill Wells, Councilmembers Tony Ambrose, Gary Kendrick and Star Bales, Heart Fire & Rescue Fire Chief Rick Sitta and El Cajon Police Captain Jeff Davis judged this year’s costume contestants in age groups, with more than 250 contestants joining in the fun.
Minions were everywhere, even gathering at the Downtown El Cajon sign attempting to break the world record or minions in one gathering. Children were able to trick or treat at some of the haunted cars, candy trails and game booths. All in all, once again this year’s event went leaps and bounds beyond last year’s event. This is due to the continuous support and engagement of St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center, the City of El Cajon and the Downtown El Cajon Business Partners, becoming one of El Cajon and all of East County’s signature events of the year. And not to forget the hours of volunteer time by city staff that helped make this event another successful and safe bash for the community.
