Pageant Director Alex Kuty’s hard work at the “Night of Talent and Fashion” at Steele Canyon High School Theater in Spring Valley paid off. The fundraiser raised money for the Miss San Diego Cities, Miss La Mesa, Miss Santee and Miss Rancho Jamul pageants.
After a silent auction and opportunity drawing, the lights dimmed and the show began. Seventeen pageant titleholders modeled clothes from Fashion Kiss of La Mesa and the Old Navy store in Santee. The models were former contestants and titleholders in the various pageant programs.

Lily Rae Walters, Santee Princess 2012, and daughter of Miss Santee 1981, Karen Mastronardi Walters, stepped on stage to sing “Temporary Home.” The auditorium fell into a hush as Walters’ high, sweet voice sang the Carrie Underwood tune.
The evening gown and party dress fashions featured the best from PreVue in Grossmont Center. Sierra Billock, who had just been crowned Miss Greater San Diego 2013, began the line-up of fashion in a shimmering gold-colored gown.

The evening ended with a jazz dance by Zazz Productions, featuring long-time pageant choreographer Claudia Dyson-Hightower.
The fundraiser brought in $1,600 after expenses. All proceeds will go to providing scholarships for women who become titleholders.
“Our program is rich with tradition and is an outstanding mentoring and leadership opportunity for young women,” said Kuty about the pageant programs.

The pageant programs include Miss Teen, Junior Miss and Princess titleholders. Call Kuty at (619) 518-2777 for more information about the pageants.
