El Cajon man sentenced in shooting of Lakeside woman

Matthew Leroy Williams, 31, of El Cajon, was sentenced March 9 to 21 years in state prison for his role in the shooting death of Kimberly Hayes, 35, of Lakeside, whose body was left burning on a dirt road in Alpine.

Mendoza pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and is expected to receive 50 years to life in prison on April 15. Perez said Mendoza would get 25 years for the murder plus 25 years for using a gun. 

Awaiting sentencing as an accessory after the fact is Lauren Rae Huett, 34, of El Cajon. She could get up to one year in jail and pleaded guilty Nov. 10. Jennifer Lyn Stein, 32, also pleaded guilty to being an accessory and was sentenced to two years in local custody. 

San Diego man sentenced for motel shooting

A man who shot a clerk at the Quality Inn in El Cajon during an attempted robbery was sentenced March 17 to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to assault with a deadly weapon.

Charles Douglas Winzer, 24, of San Diego, was ordered to pay $1,250 to the victim who was wounded on Dec. 16, 2014. Winzer received credit for three months in jail in El Cajon Superior Court.

His brother, Christopher James Winzer, 23, of San Diego, pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact and burglary,. Judge Daniel Goldstein sentenced him March 3 to two years in local custody.

Woman pleads guilty in East County burglaries

Martha Aracely Lampley, 37, is facing a maximum 24-year term in state prison after pleading guilty to numerous burglaries in which she took packages from homes in East County.

Lampley, of San Diego, will be sentenced April 8 in El Cajon Superior Court. Home surveillance video led to her arrest on Nov. 29, 2014 after packages were reported lost in Spring Valley, Lemon Grove, and El Cajon.

Lampley was arrested again Dec. 18 after sheriff’s deputies learned she stole an iPad Air from a man who had let her inside his Spring Valley home. Detectives searched a storage unit rented by Lampley and found stolen packages and merchandise.

Lampley also pleaded guilty to burglary of a vacant house close to Spring Valley on Jan. 4, 2014.
