Spanning over three days, the event featured all sorts of fun. Kids bought hot dogs and Italian Ice treats from vendors and cookies from the bake sale. Browsing the rummage sale with their parents, they found everything from books to games to knickknacks. They got soaking wet at the dunking booth and their faces painted by clowns.
Door prizes, a silent auction, charity raffle and a fire engine from the local fire station kept people of all ages busy throughout the afternoon.
When the sun bore down too hot, they went inside for a cold drink and live music by local band Smooth Unit.
The event was just one of many that the Santee-El Cajon FOE has regularly throughout the year to raise funds to help others.
The two most prominent causes of the organization are the Jimmy Durante Children’s Fund and the Diabetes Research Fund.
The Santee-El Cajon FOE is part of the national branch of the 115-year-old organization founded originally as The Order of Good Things.
