It’s almost spring time and a young man’s fancy turns to … gardening. In a practical world that may actually be the answer. And to be exact, tomato plants, Easter lilies and specialty stakes.

It’s almost spring time and a young man’s fancy turns to … gardening. In a practical world that may actually be the answer. And to be exact, tomato plants, Easter lilies and specialty stakes.

José Cisneros, owner of East County’s Frontier Nursery, showed off one of his products — a tomato plant with a wire curled around a stake to support the plant’s vines and future harvest.
Cisneros, who has owned the nursery for six years, also anticipates stocking Easter lilies closer to Easter, which will be celebrated on March 31 this year.

Basic tips Cisneros passed along for preparing one’s garden soil include using a planter mix and fertilize. He is germinating and preparing his seedlings for the planting season now with jalapeño peppers, serrano peppers and a variety of flowers, Cisneros also sells fruit trees year-round.

Recently the Topsy-Turvy planters have been popular; however, unique tomato stakes like the one Cisneros sells are also useful. Cisneros can help gardeners with such things as choosing the right tomato stakes. He can also assist gardeners to bring out their artistic sides by designing the stakes and developing their green thumbs.

So whether you fancy a victory garden, an organic garden, or just want to grow one tomato plant in order to brag that you are a farmer — visit Cisneros for gardening tips or to buy that tomato plant and curlicue stake.
