District 33 champion San Carlos captures Section 6 title, advances to SoCal divisional

San Carlos Little League racked up four wins in California District 33 tournament play — 12-2 over North Park, 8-0 over Allied Gardens and 7-2 and 15-4 over Rolando — to advance to this year’s California Section 6 championship tournament in Vista.

Joining San Carlos in the July 17-22 section tournament were champions from District 31 (4S Ranch), District 32 (Peninsula) and District 70 (Oceanside Valley).

San Carlos received home runs from Sean Ruch, Jacob Gibb and Nico Gigante to power San Carlos in the district championship game victory. San Carlos clinched its fourth district title in six years with the two-game sweep over Rolando.

The newly crowned District 33 champions continued their winning streak with three more victories to capture the Section 6 championship.

San Carlos defeated 4S Ranch, 8-7, in the opening game on July 17, then tacked on two wins against Peninsula to emerge with the section banner on July 22.

The newly crowned Section 6 champions advanced to the 10-team Southern California championship July 24 to Aug. 1 in Fountain Valley against champions from Section 1, Section 2, Section 3, Section 4, Section 5, Section 7, Section 8, Section 9 and Section 10.

San Carlos extended its winning streak to eight games after taming District 71 champion Vineyard, 13-1, on July 24. San Carlos (9-0) advanced to Thursday’s winners bracket game against District 42 champion Eastlake (10-0).

The Southern California champion advances to the Little League World Series West Region tournament in San Bernardino.

Besides San Carlos Little League, Section 33 includes the following leagues: La Mesa National Little League, Lake Murray Little League, Mission Trails Little League, Rolando Little League, San Carlos Little League, Chollas Lake Little League, Allied Gardens Little League, Murphy Canyon Little League, Tierrasanta Little League, Sunshine Little League, Mid City Little League, Serra Mesa Little League, North Park Little League and Kearny Mesa Little League.
