Rachel Lynch, Courtyard San Diego El Cajon director of sales has big plans for this newest edition to downtown El Cajon, not only in making it a successful destination, but also in its work within the entire East County community.

“Besides our inbound travelers that are coming to visit the corporate businesses around the Gillespie Field and East County area, we are hoping to have movies on the lawn, concerts including jazz, country and western night, wine tasting, and having breweries come in and showcase their brewery,” she said.”We would also like to work with non-profit organizations that need to hold galas, awards along with weddings, quineañeras, retirement and anniversary parties. We are going to reach out to the public to work with us instead of downtown and paying $50 for parking. They can have a nice facility, brand new and at this time we are not charging for parking. We also have the catering services to cover these types of events.”

Lynch said it is looking forward to the opening of the East County Performing Arts Center so it can bring stars, plays, musicals to the area and house them at the Marriott.

“With 120 rooms, it is really not difficult to fill them up and that’s my job, heads in the beds,” she said. “Hopefully the Marriott brings more people to East County so they can venture out to Lakeside, Ramona, Julian and all of the casinos in this area,” she said.”We’re hoping to work with the casinos as a pick up and drop off location. We want to partner with the local breweries and wineries. It’s going to be a win, win for all of East County.”

Lynch said the Marriott will also be working closely with the restaurants to put packages together, like a ‘Stay and Play’ where you come stay at the Marriott, go to local restaurants in the area, and not just El Cajon but the rest of the East County communities.

“There are so many great restaurants in all of East County that I am just learning about and I want to reach out to all of them to partner with us in collaboration, bringing out the best for all of East County. We plan on having Happy Hour featuring East County breweries and wineries and we are open to anyone that comes and says that they want to work with us,” she said.

Lynch said being part of the Marriott, it is a draw because it has a base of customers already. It has one of the best rewards programs, giving points per dollar, so anything you spend at a Marriott, including gift shops, dining, bar you get points. Even organizations, people and businesses that do large scale events get the same points systems on dollars spent.

“We are very generous with our points and these points can be used worldwide. This brings in loyal customers from all over the world because they are devoted to the Marriott, its amenities and its point system. It saves frequent customers a lot of money,” she said.

The Courtyard Marriott San Diego El Cajon is located at 141 North Magnolia Ave, El Cajon.
