Speaker of the Assembly Toni Atkins was on hand to celebrate the opening along with Sen. Joel Anderson, representatives for the city of El Cajon and other community leaders.

Borrego Health Chief Government and Public Affair Officer V. Manuel Perez acted as master of ceremonies in introducing doctors like Dr. Daoud Ghafari to comment on what the clinic will bring to the community.

Borrego will support urgent care services Monday through Friday with a wide range of medical services including pediatrics, family practice, preventative care, and more. It provides patients’ access to a Patient Centered Comprehensive Care for the people of El Cajon and East County.

Borrego Health CEO Bruce Hebets said that the clinic has expanded so much that this location near the El Cajon arch sign is the third move for this clinic that has also grown in its patient base.

“We are very excited to celebrate our open house and ribbon cutting during National Public Health Week,” he said. “Many communities across the country observe National Public Health Week as a time to recognize the contributions of public health. We will honor this week by bringing a new clinic to El Cajon.”

Site manager, Cathleen Shaffer, said patients have access to medical providers in a number of languages including English, Farsi, Chaldean, Spanish, and Tagalog.

Borrego Health is a private non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center that tailors primary and preventive health programs to meet the health needs of men, women, children, adolescents and senior citizens in the community and those at risk of developing serious diseases.
