Santee streamlines licensing, permit process

The City of Santee announced the launch of its new online Permitting & Licensing Portal, which modernizes the city’s permit application and licensing process.

“We are committed to providing exceptional service and embracing technology advancements to improve the experience for our community members, contractors, current and future business owners and employees. Santee’s Permitting & Licensing Portal will increase efficiency, reduce paper, improve transparency, and expedite processing for permits, plans and licenses,” said Santee City Manager Marlene Best in a statement.

The new portal is hosted by Tyler Technologies and aims to enhance customer service and streamline the permitting and licensing process for the community. Applicants will have the convenience of applying for permits, submitting plans, tracking the status of projects, scheduling inspections, and applying for or renewing Santee business licenses all in one user-friendly online platform. The portal also has a feature to allow users to report a problem, submit a service request or notify code compliance.

To utilize the new portal, applicants should register as a user at santeeportal.org. Information on how to register and user guides can be found on the Permitting & Licensing Portal or the City of Santee’s website. The city will no longer accept hard-copy applications.

All submissions must be made on-line. To ensure a smooth transition, the Planning & Building Department will have kiosks available on-site to help customers who bring in hard-copy applications. Staff will also be available to assist customers with new submissions into the portal. To save a trip to City Hall, customers can also review the user guides and submit their applications on-line from the convenience of their own computer or mobile device.
