The nomination period for a special election to fill one La Mesa City Council seat opens Monday, July 12, and closes Aug. 6.
In April former La Mesa Councilwoman Akilah Weber was elected to the State Assembly and vacated her seat on the dais. The city council subsequently voted in June to hold a special election to fill the remainder of her term.
Elections will take place on Nov. 2 and the person elected will serve until Nov. 8, 2022.
Candidate packets for the election are available in the City Clerk’s Office, located at 8130 Allison Ave. in La Mesa.
