Social activist group We Stand United gathered with other civil rights supporters Aug. 29 near Kohl’s in Santee with calls for police reform and racial parity. Supporters marched in a looped route down Mission Gorge Road as far as Cuyamaca Street before returning to the starting point, where they closed out the event with speeches on living as a woman of color in Santee. Meanwhile members of vigilante groups Defend East County and Exiled Patriots simultaneously gathered in an adjoining lot.
