A little bit of rain did not prevent the Grossmont Foothillers and quarterback Anthony Lawrence from reaching their goals Friday night in a 35-6 win over Otay Ranch High School.

On Grossmont’s second possession of the game, quarterback Anthony Lawrence led to the end zone finding wide receiver Alijah Avant to help set him up for the touchdown. Then Lawrence runs the ball in for the first score of the night.

Just minutes later as Otay attempts a pass into the end zone, Grossmont defensive back Aspen Caraway intercepts the ball on the 1-yard line.

During the second quarter, Lawrence quickly found wide receiver JT Barnes who made a leaping catch in the end zone making the score 14-0. Then with about a minute before the half, starting out on the Hillers 15-yard line, he needed five quick passes. The last a 25-yard pass to Avant, another leaping catch, ending the half 21-0.

With a 15-yard pass from Lawrence to wide receiver Hurter Reiner, Lawrence broke one more SDCIF record. Breaking the eight man career total pass receptions.

Lawrence found Barnes one more time in the fourth quarter as he ran untouched down the sidelines making the score 35-6.

Grossmont plays next in the SDCIF quarterfinals on Thursday, Nov.21 at Carlsbad (No.4 seed).
