The county’s Zoning Administrator approved a minor use permit for water storage tank improvements in Campo.
The Oct. 20 decision by Zoning Administrator Connor McGee allows the construction of a new potable water storage tank which will replace three of four existing tanks on a Canadian Honker Road property owned by the Lake Morena Views Mutual Water Company. The tank with a capacity of 100,000 gallons will remain, and the new tank will have a capacity of 114,000 gallons.
The land has RR Rural Residential zoning, and its land use designation is SR-10 (Semi-Rural, one dwelling unit per ten acres). A water storage tank of the scope desired is permitted on land with RR zoning if a Minor Use Permit is issued. The new tank will have a height of 16 feet 1 inch.
The four existing tanks are on approximately 4,678 square feet. Access is provided by a private easement which connects to Canadian Honker Road.
The new storage tank will not require utility work. The replacement will involve 199 cubic yards of cut and 34 cubic yards of fill.
The Campo/Lake Morena Community Planning Group reviewed the proposed permit June 23 and voted 5-0 with one abstention to recommend approval.
