The La Mesa-El Cajon Branch of the American Association of University Women, Public Policy committee, are sponsoring the League of Women Voters at its Oct. 11 meeting.
The meeting is in keeping with the club’s nonpartisan approach to politics and is offering a new presentation outlining the unique challenges currently facing democracy.
Organizers said that during this time in history the organization wants to help people understand:
• How democracy and the balance of power work,
• How fundamental rights are impacted by executive orders and actions,
• How current litigation is an important arena for resolving disagreement, and
•What advocacy can and should be done by citizens and voters.
The meeting is open to the public and will be held in King’s Hall at the Foothill’s United Methodist Church 4031 Avocado Blvd. in La Mesa. Social begins at 9:30 with the meeting to follow at 10 a.m.
The Public Policy committee is chaired by Gerri Morrison and Vicki Reed.
