A 16-year-old boy suspected of stabbing a 16-year-old girl twice in the back around 11 p.m. on April 16 in Lakeside was arrested on April 18.
The suspect allegedly stabbed the victim, who is Black, at an apartment complex in the 12000 block of Mapleview Street, then left the scene of the crime with his companions.
During the course of investigation, Sheriff’s deputies determined the suspect and a group of teenagers had approached the victim and her family about an earlier assault and began yelling racial slurs at them.
A 15-year-old girl was also arrested based on information and witness statements in the ongoing investigation, and booked into juvenile hall on attempted murder and hate crime charges.
The victim was taken to the hospital and treated for her injuries.
No identifying information can be released by the Sheriff as the parties involved are all juveniles.
