Early last month, California State Senator Joel Anderson awarded Rex Grizzle D.D.S. and volunteers with Senate certificates of recognition for their generosity in hosting their 4th Annual Dentistry from the Heart Event. Anderson later commented, “I am grateful for the time and energy Dr. Grizzle and his staff spend to make our community a healthier place.”

Anderson later commented, “I am grateful for the time and energy Dr. Grizzle and his staff spend to make our community a healthier place.”

Grizzle is a practicing dentist for over 34 years in Pine Valley. At a convention, one of his colleagues mentioned Dentistry from the Heart.

Dentistry from the Heart is an international nonprofit organization whose aim is to provide free dental care to those in need.

Instantly, Grizzle was eager to get involved. According to the organization’s website, “Every year, thousands of individual dentists, hygienists, volunteers, and hundreds of practices across the world donate their time and resources to host their own Dentistry from the Heart event” and Grizzle has been one of them for the last four years.

Grizzle said he could not have done anything differently.

“You know what, this community has been so good to me and my staff,” he said. “Why not give back to it?”

This theme of unyielding compassion is seen not just in Grizzle, but in his staff as well.

Kyla Lennox has been working with Grizzle for 7 years and has been with the practice since the start of Dentistry from the Heart. She emphasized the importance of showing compassion and described a heartwarming scene with a patient.

“He had waited all day for an appointment and he was in tears thanking each staff member for the dental care,” said Lennox. “We were then all in tears.”

Grizzle and staff plan on continuing the tradition of hosting Dentistry from the Heart events for as long as they can.
