KSON, a local radio station based in San Diego, hosted its first “John and Tammy’s Garage Sale” on the morning of Aug. 16 at the R. Goodwater Ranch in Lakeside. Prior to this event, KSON invited anyone who was hosting garage sales to submit their garage sale information for a drawing to have KSON host a live show at their garage sale.

Rick Goodwater and his friends at the R. Goodwater Ranch were selected as the first “John and Tammy’s Garage Sale” hosts. Families and friends of the ranch put together a community garage sale and invited their neighbors to come out and find items to take home. KSON did an interactive live show at the ranch from 7-9 a.m. on Saturday morning.

The show included an interview and Senate Certificate presentation from State Senator Joel Anderson, radio hosts bargaining with sellers, and also music from The Harpers.

Anderson said he was impressed with the success of “John & Tammy’s Garage Sale.”

“KSON is a great community partner because they are always out there promoting our community,” he said. “Today, John and Tammy brought a lot of fun to Lakeside.”

Some community members and radio station staff members got a chance to ride the horses at the ranch that added even more fun to the garage sale. The radio show ended at 9 a.m., however, many buyers came throughout the day to purchase homemade products, tools, books, kitchen supplies, and other used goods at the garage sale.
