Randy Jones, a former San Diego Padre and National League CY Young Award winner is set to reunite once again with the Home of Guiding Hands, is holding its 14th Annual Randy Jones Run/Wal on March 2 at Crown Point Park in San Diego beginning at 8 a.m., with races kicking off at 9 a.m. Participants will have the opportunity to meet and greet with Jones throughout the event. John and Tammy from “San Diego’s Morning Show” on KSON 103.7 will also join as the Masters of Ceremonies.

HGH is a nonprofit organization that provides support for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities headquartered in El Cajon.

HGH Vice President of Operation Falon Leszczynski said Jones has been involved with HGH for many years.

“Our run/walk started out at Santee Lakes but in 2017 we moved it to Crown Point Park in Mission Bay due to the overwhelming attendance that we had. It is a great way for us to gather the community together and to raise awareness of our organization, including the organizations that support us.”

Leszczynski said this is one event that its clients get to participate in as well.

“The walk/run is a little over 2.5 miles, so you can run, you can walk, or a combination of both. But this event happens on a paved walkway that is ADA accessible. We will have many of our clients there. Randy Jones will be there throughout the duration of the event to greet people and enjoy the time.”

Leszczynski said this is one of four major fundraisers that HGH holds each year.

“Our gala, which we are celebrating our 50th gala this year on April 27 at the Pendry San Diego Hotel. This year our gala is a ‘Glitz & Glam’ theme to go along with our 50th anniversary. We will be honoring our past 49 honorees who have supported HGH for many, many years. Then we have our Pub Crawl which will happen this summer tentatively slated for August. Then we always hold our annual golf tournament which will be held in the fall,” she said.
