The City of Santee’s eighth annual Fido Fest is coming to Town Center Community Park East on Feb. 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This family and dog-friendly event is an opportunity for at¬tendees to view adoptable dogs from about 20 local rescues, shop from various vendors, watch demonstrations, and enjoy giveaways. If walking or shopping through the excitement works up your appetite, five food vendors will be serving delectable eats for all to enjoy. There will be a variety of arts and crafts to paw-take in, including yappy hour, treat finder, doggy tattoos, an off-leash area, fly ball demonstration, an agility course, and a sniff station. In addition to the fun activities at Fido Fest, the San Diego Humane Society will be providing microchipping and pet licensing services (with a copy of a rabies certificate). Microchipping will cost $10 and pet licens¬ing prices will vary.

City of Santee Special Events Supervisor Becky Lowndes said, “Santee is proud to be a dog-friendly city, and we are thrilled to host an event where the community can enjoy all things dog-related. The event is filled with exciting activities; make sure you get here early so you don’t miss anything.”

City staff are collecting dona¬tions of unopened dog food, bedding, blankets, new toys, and other items that will be donated to the rescues that attend the event. Stop by the City’s information booth to drop off dona-tions in exchange for an addi¬tional entry into the opportunity drawing.
