The Lakeside Chamber of Commerce is holding its 26th Annual Spirit of Christmas on Maine Avenue on Dec. 7 from 3-7:30 p.m. This family-friendly event is an old-fashioned Christmas celebration with all the sights, sounds, and scents of the Christmas Holiday, and an opportunity for guests to shop locally at Lakeside businesses.

Lakeside Chamber President/CEO Kathy Kassel said this is a great event for families to come and kickoff the holiday season.

“Santa is coming. It is all free for families. Many nonprofits are setting up booths and providing opportunities to do crafts and fun activities for the kids. There is some wonderful entertainment with the school kids doing their performances. Also, we have a car show which is a big hit for the adults,” she said.

Along with the local youth performances, classic car show, and activities for the kids, there will be food and treats, holiday shopping from local clubs and vendors, the Community Tree Lighting Ceremony, and a mailbox for the North Pole. Parking for the event is free at the El Capitan Stadium Association’s Lakeside Arena.

The event starts at 3 p.m. with shopping, activities, and treats. At 4:30 p.m., Santa will arrive traveling down Maine Avenue to the Old Presbyterian Church, home of the Lakeside Historical Society with the Community Tree Lighting Ceremony at 5 p.m., followed by photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

In tandem with this event, the Lakeside Historical Society’s Mrs. Claus Christmas Resale Shop with be open from 10 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.

The following weekend, the Lakeside Rodeo will be hosting its annual Breakfast with Santa at the Lakeside Rodeo Hall from 9-11:30 a.m. with breakfast, crafts for the children, letters to Santa, and photo opportunities with Santa and his helpers. For more information visit lakesiderodeo.com.
