Nominations open for outstanding art teachers

Friends of East County Arts, Inc. is now accepting applications for outstanding teachers in East County who contribute to the visual and performing arts. Applications for nominations must be submitted digitally or postmarked by Feb. 23.

FECA vice-president elect Dr. Karen Childress-Evans said this year the organization will honor one high school and one middle school teacher in the visual arts, and one high school and one middle school teacher in the performing arts, with an award of $1,500 to each of the four honorees. This is open to teachers in all East County middle and high school districts.

“There are no requirements of where the honorees spend their money,” she continued. “This is a nod to them, honoring them for their high-quality instruction in visual and performing arts.”
