Nominating period open for women of leadership

The San Diego Regional East County Chamber of Commerce Women in Leadership (WILL) Committee is currently accepting nominations for its 22nd Annual Women in Leadership Luncheon. The Women in Leadership awards provide an opportunity for any individual or organization to honor a special woman who has made an impact throughout the San Diego community.

Nominees must be San Diego County residents who have demonstrated exemplary character, integrity, and outstanding leadership. Not only in their field, but throughout their community. Nominees may be anyone; a high-level executive in a profitmaking company, a visionary entrepreneur who is blazing new trails, a leader of a nonprofit organization or public agency who is truly making a difference, or the neighbor down the street who is constantly working to improve the community. Candidates should share a strong sense of self, a success-driven work ethic, and extraordinary accomplishments. Nominations close Aug. 30.

In 2003, the first Women in Leadership Luncheon was launched with the idea of honoring women who excel professionally and as community leaders. The successful women of San Diego County, along with inspirational keynote speakers, keep WILL growing year after year. The heart of WILL centers around each years’ nominees: women who demonstrate exemplary character, integrity, and leadership. The roster of awardees over the past 21 years is a genuine San Diego honor roll.

This year is sure to break records with over 500 attendees, emceed by KUSI’s Lauren Phinney, with keynote speaker Dr. Adela de la Torre, president of San Diego State University.
