Motorcycle rider charged with manslaughter

A March 2 preliminary hearing has been set for the driver of a motorcycle which crashed in La Mesa that resulted in the death of a passenger.

Chad Paul Tucker, 44, of La Mesa, has been charged with vehicular manslaughter and hit and run in the death of Theresa Clouthier, 38, of El Cajon.

The incident occurred Halloween night just before 11:20 p.m. on the Severin Drive on-ramp to Interstate 8. Tucker was driving with two women passengers including Clouthier.

Tucker and the other woman fled the scene and he was arrested by the California Highway Patrol on Nov. 26, 2019. He pleaded not guilty in El Cajon Superior Court.

Clouthier had a daughter, and a Gofundme page has been set up for expenses for her. She worked at J&B Materials in El Cajon for seven years.

Judge Daniel Lamborn set bail at $3 million. He remains in the South Bay Detention Facility.
