In a Halloween-themed event, Meals on Wheels San Diego County hosted its annual Volunteer Appreciation event on Oct. 24 honoring its volunteers who deliver nutritious meals and daily safety checks to local seniors in the Metro and East County Service Center areas. Over 140 Meals on Wheels volunteers and their families dressed in their Halloween best, celebrating another successful year. Volunteers received trick or treat gas gift cards, soaps, tumblers, notepads, and candy.

Volunteers with special anniversary milestones ranging from 5 to 29 years were awarded service certificates. East County Service Center volunteer couple Jackie and Stacy Hall spoke at the event about their more than 35 years of volunteering with Meals on Wheels.

Meals on Wheels San Diego County supports over 2,100 seniors daily, delivering nearly 60,000 meals each month. In 2023, more than 628,000 meals were provided countywide. Visit sandiegomealsonwheels.org for more information on how to become a volunteer, donate, or receive services
