La Mesa shoppers will soon have a new destination for discounted fashion and home goods.
TJ Maxx will open a new store at 8790 Grossmont Blvd. on Sunday, March 8, with a grand opening celebration beginning at 8 a.m.
The retailer, which operates more than 1,300 stores across 49 states and Puerto Rico, is known as the nation’s largest off-price retailer. The new La Mesa location will offer brand-name and designer fashion, accessories, jewelry, home décor, and beauty products at discounted prices.
Doors will remain open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on opening day.
“We’re thrilled to join the La Mesa community,” said Nancy Carpenter, president of TJ Maxx.
“We look forward to providing local shoppers with an ever-changing selection of high-quality merchandise at exceptional value so they can express their true ‘Maxx’ selves.”
The roughly 22,510-square-foot store features what the company describes as an easy-to-shop layout, bright and spacious dressing rooms, and a single line queue designed to speed up checkout. After opening day, regular store hours will be 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Monday through Sunday.
TJ Maxx buyers work with thousands of brands and designers worldwide to source merchandise year-round rather than seasonally. By purchasing throughout the year, the company says it can take advantage of opportunities as they arise, offering customers current styles at lower prices, according to the outfit.
To mark the store’s opening, TJ Maxx will donate $10,000 to a local charity. The La Mesa location will also participate in the company’s annual in-store fundraising campaign supporting Save the Children U.S. Programs.
The new store adds to the retailer’s national footprint while bringing another shopping option to the Grossmont Boulevard corridor.
