Dear Dianne Jacob,
For many months in 2016, I tried to contact someone mainly in Lemon Grove. The main librarian at the new Lemon Grove Library, the Lemon Grove Chamber of Commerce, the City of Lemon Grove, the Lemon Grove School District superintendent, etc., regarding the long, long, long distance from the handicapped parking entrance, but nobody knew or would not find out who was responsible for facilitating this problem. Even the ramp entrance is difficult for a physically disabled person.
Someone suggested contacting you and finally a bench was installed half way from the handicapped parking to the library entrance. Your office put me in touch with the right people. Thank you!
Since there is no safe handicap drop-off place in front of the library entrance on School Lane in Lemon Grove, that is being “investigated,” I believe.
The bench is a good start to alleviate this insensitive situation so all tax paying citizens can use this wonderful library facility.
I am not physically disabled, but how could anyone have designed this partially building project and most of all, how did it pass code inspection?
