The Lakeside Rodeo is celebrating 60 years of rodeo in East County April 25-28. A registered 501c3, the nonprofit El Capitan Stadium Association does business as the Lakeside Rodeo dedicated to benefiting the youth of Lakeside. With four performances, each day has a theme. Thursday’s performance is Retro Western, Friday is Red White & Blue Patriotic, Saturday is Black & Gold 60th Anniversary, and Sunday is about lighting it blue for Autism Awareness Month. There is also a 60th Anniversary Belt Buckle to celebrate the event. The Lakeside Rode is Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association sanctioned.
Along with the non-stop action professional competitions in bull riding, bronc riding, bareback riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling, team roping, and its signature Kids Stick Horse Race, this year they are adding the Pony Hop Race where two teams of four go head-to-head on inflatable bouncing ponies to win a box at the 2025 rodeo.
