The La Mesa Chamber of Commerce is holding its 14th annual Salute to Local Heroes dinner “Lights, Camera, Celebrate!” on Oct. 5 from 5:30 to 8:45 p.m. in the Heritage Ballroom at Sycuan Casino Resort. This event honors nine local heroes who serve the La Mesa community.

This year’s heroes to be honored are American Medical Response – Paramedic Ed Bell, Paramedic Missy Hale and Paramedic Melissa Luna, Heartland Fire & Rescue Deputy Fire Marshal Rachel Clarke, Heartland Communications Facility Authority, Dispatcher Kim Gonzales, La Mesa Police Department, Detective Jamie Roberts, Officer Hannah Rost and Downtown Operations Assistant Slawomir Stojanowski and La Mesa Police Department Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol – Clarke Stillwagen.

Chamber President & CEO Mary England said this is one of the Chambers most popular and unique events.

“It is all about showing the strength of our community,” said England. “The Chamber does not choose the heroes that are honored that night. Each department gives us their heroes and why they selected them. We just have the opportunity to give them their gifts, their honors, and execute this event, and celebrate them. I believe that is what makes this event unique.”

England said it is refreshing to come together for one night and celebrate the community.

“And those that dedicate themselves to our community,” she said. “We would not know about them, their accomplishments, and what they have done for this community without this event.”

The event is open to the entire community with an individual ticket price of $115, 2 tickets for $210 and a table of 8 tickets for $760. Tickets may be purchased at: www.lamesachamber.com or by calling Mary England directly (619) 251-7730.
